THRÆDS
THRÆDS began as a solo project by guitarist Angelos Tzamtzis in early 2019 in Greece. His debut single, “The Unspeakable Word,” laid the foundation for a sound defined by atmosphere and minimalism. Later that year, a move to Berlin provided the creative ground for THRÆDS to evolve into a full five-piece band. By late 2019, the lineup was complete, and the group began blending progressive and post-metal influences into a distinctive sonic identity.
In 2021, THRÆDS released their debut EP Akasha, recorded at KAOS Studios in Berlin. Featuring the singles “Tessera” and “Colorless” Akasha introduced THRÆDS as a compelling new presence in the heavy music scene. Following its release, the band embarked on an 11-date tour across Eastern and Central Europe in spring 2022, supporting French metal band Lone Survivors and bringing their immersive sound to audiences in seven countries.
Their debut full-length album, IMPERMANENCE released via Argonauta Records on June 6th, 2025 marks a significant evolution in their sound. Across eight tracks and 47 minutes, the album channels the groove-laden intensity of Gojira and Tool while weaving in the ethereal textures of Alcest, Elder, and Porcupine Tree. A meditation on cosmic entropy and the cycles of creation and dissolution, IMPERMANENCE was primarily self-produced, with drums and vocals recorded at Berlin’s G7 Studios by Matthias Schilling (MS Audio Productions).
THRÆDS’ multinational lineup—Angelos Tzamtzis (guitar, synth), Celso Borralho (vocals), Felipe Melo Villarroel (drums), Barnabás Mihály (bass), and Tim Crawford (guitar, backing vocals) brings a diverse range of influences, creating music that’s both technically refined and emotionally resonant. Guest performances from Vangelis Sazanides (synthesizer) and Alegros Gramma (saxophone) further enrich the album’s sonic depth.
With IMPERMANENCE, THRÆDS continues to expand their reach, preparing to bring their ambitious and emotive sound to stages across Europe while seeking new representation and distribution opportunities within the progressive and post-metal communities.
